Mela Köhler ging zwei Jahre zur Malschule Hohenberger und wurde an der Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule als Schülerin von Koloman Moser und Bertold Löffler ausgebildet. Anschließend war sie freischaffende Künstlerin. Sie entwarf Ansichtskarten für Wiener Werkstätte und andere, hauptsächlich als Modedarstellungen.
