No Binding. Condición: Very Good. The artist's book takes the form of a portfolio consisting of thirteen translucent sheets housed in a white wrapper, each printed with a solid black geometric form, beginning with a triangle and culminating in a sixteen-sided star polygon. As the viewer moves through the sequence, the forms appear to rotate and gradually diminish, creating a kinetic experience on paper. Condition: Very good condition, the sheets have been stored flat so there's no signs of use. Age however has left some subtle discolouration. The portfolio cover also has some discolouration to the spine and a crease on the cover. Originally trained as a designer and architect, Bernard Kirschenbaum worked closely with Buckminster Fuller in his youth, an experience that informed his lifelong engagement with structure, proportion, and geometry. In 1957, he designed and built the first geodesic dome residence for artist Susan Weil, the first wife of Robert Rauschenberg, whom he later married. In the 1960s, Kirschenbaum turned his geometric expertise toward sculpture, creating works that explored both two- and three-dimensional form and spatial relationships. A sustained interest in sacred geometry runs throughout his practice. In 1980, he created Self Portrait, a sculpture composed of thirteen carved wooden polygons increasing in scale, beginning with a triangle. Hidden Self-Portrait may be understood in direct relation to this work. Signed by Author(s).
