A very good copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper with four short edge-tears, a small triangular area of loss from the head of the rear panel, and a single tiny area of surface abrasion. She was a professional writer with patrons in court circles and her works include biography, moralizing treatises with a strong patriotic note, and a large quantity of verse. In the past she has tended to be neglected, but during the last thirty years her work has come to be better known. She is now regarded as one of the really important French writers of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Altogether she composed about 300 bal- lades, 70 rondeaux, and 20 virelais, mostly between 1393 and 1412.
