The elegant cover illustration depicts Norman in elaborate blue theatrical costume framed within an early Art Deco window motif, reflecting the transition from Edwardian decorative design into modern commercial graphics. Interior music remains clean and highly displayable, with the operatic arrangement intended for stage or parlor performance. Jerome H. Remick & Co. was among the most important American popular-music publishers of the era, and this issue survives as an appealing example of theatrical and LGBTQ-adjacent performance culture from the Prohibition-era entertainment world. Condition: Very Good. Moderate edge wear and corner rubbing with light creasing and mild age toning. Spine fold remains sound and pages securely attached. Interior music pages clean and complete with no major tears or markings. Rear cover lightly soiled from handling, consistent with age. Karyl Norman (1896-1947), billed here as 'The Creole Fashion Plate,' was a celebrated vaudeville female impersonator whose lavish costumes and sophisticated stage persona made him one of the highest-paid nightclub and theater entertainers of the 1920s. Norman became especially associated with lavish costume revues and blues-influenced popular songs during the height of Prohibition-era nightlife culture. Composer Edwin J. Weber was active in Tin Pan Alley during the 1910s and 1920s, contributing sentimental ballads and theatrical songs for popular vocal performance. Lyricists Karyl Norman and Hyatt Berry collaborated on material tailored to stage presentation and personality-driven performance styles common in vaudeville circuits of the period.

'Karyl Norman' (1897 - 1947) was born in Baltimore, leaving home at the age of 16 and performing vaudeville on the west co…ast of the United States. He toured Australia and New Zealand in 1917, and was known for his fashion gowns, mostly made by his mother, who toured with him. Norman was a key performer as part of the 'pansy craze' which emerged in New York in the 1930s, where gay subculture emerged as mainstream entertainment during the Prohibition era. He was known for his Southern style songs which he mostly wrote himself, quick change of costume and fine voice.

Two sheet music titles associated with Karyl Norman include I'm Through (Shedding Tears Over You) and Nobody Lied (When They Said I Cried Over You), reflecting the popular song repertoire of female impersonators active from the late 1910s through the 1940s.
