Añadir al carritohardcover. Condición: Good. First Edition. Publication: London, Selwyn & Blount (1928) Ltd, 1928 Formatting: 8vo, complete with 60 photographic plates and folding map. Condition Report: Good. While the primary red cloth boards remain structurally sound and surprisingly vibrant, the spine has suffered from considerable sunning, having uniformly faded to a light tan with mild rubbing and shelf-wear to the head and tail. The binding itself remains tight and completely square, holding the text block firmly without any lean. Internally, the book is free from major previous ownership markings, but the preliminary leaves, including the frontispiece portrait and title page, exhibit moderate to heavy foxing. This spotting continues intermittently throughout the margins of the text block and the photographic plates. The fore-edge is untrimmed and the top edge is lightly dust-soiled, which is typical for its age, but the heavy spine fading and internal foxing warrant a solid, functional 'Good' grade. Catalogue Note: This is the First UK Edition, translated into English from the original Danish by Erle Lunn. The volume is profusely illustrated, retaining its original 60 photographic plates that document the author's extensive travels, alongside the requisite folding map. This English translation is highly scarce on the open market, particularly in its original publisher's cloth. It represents a desirable acquisition for collectors of early twentieth-century cycling history and global travelogues. Round the World on a Cycle chronicles the remarkable and pioneering global journey of Danish cyclist Kai Thorenfeldt. Travelling during the 1920s, a period when long-distance cycling was both an extreme physical endurance test and an extraordinary cross-cultural adventure, Thorenfeldt pedalled across continents, navigating through locales such as India and Burma. This travelogue offers a fascinating firsthand glimpse into the world between the wars, capturing the exotic landscapes, local customs, and unexpected hazards of the open road from the saddle of a bicycle.
