Justus Reuber (1542-1607) war Rechtsgelehrter und bis zum Regierungsantritt Friedrichs IV. kurpfälzischer Kanzler unter Johann Kasimir. Im Jahr 1593 wurde er Rat in Straßburg mit Zuständigkeit für das lutherische Domkapitel und 1598 schließlich Rat in der Markgrafschaft Baden-Durlach sowie Obervogt von Ettlingen. Die vorliegende Sammlung historischer Textzeugen wurde erstmals im Jahr 1584 in Frankfurt von Reuber herausgegeben und gilt als dessen Hauptwerk. Neben dieser Ausgabe erschien 1726 eine weitere in der Bearbeitung durch den Historiker und Theologen Georg Christian Joannis, der den substantiellen Wert der Quellensammlung erkannt hatte. Unter anderem beinhaltet sie Einhards "Vita et Gesta Caroli Cognomento Magni" und die "Annales Pipini, Caroli Magni, & Ludovici", den Pseudo-Turpin "Historia Karoli Magni et Rotholandi", Liutprand von Cremonas "Ticinensis Ecclesiae Levitae Historiarum", Johannes Pistorius Nidanus "Roberti Monachi de Christianorum Principum in Syriam Profectione", Gunther von Pairis "Ligurinus" und abschließend "De Bello Norico" von Riccardo Bartolini. Einband fleckig und leicht bestoßen sowie mit wenigen kleinen Wurmlöchern (davon ebenfalls vorwiegend in den Stegen einige Seiten betroffen betroffen, sehr vereinzelt minimaler Textverlust einzelner Buchstaben), Vorsätze und Titelverso privat gestempelt, Seiten fast durchweg leicht bis mäßig stockfleckig bzw. wasserrandig, dennoch insgesamt gutes Exemplar dieses interessanten Werkes.
