Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This richly detailed narrative presents conversations between protagonists TAG and NACHT, traveling through the Javanese countryside in 1854. TAG, aptly named 'Day', represents reason and scientific enquiry, while NACHT ('Night') embodies the mystical and religious perspective. Their discussions traverse a vast landscape of topics, from the nature of truth and enlightenment to the merits of Javanese and European societies. The author, himself an experienced traveler and scholar, brings a wealth of knowledge to these discussions. Not only does he delve into the history, culture, and customs of the Javanese people, but he opens a window into the broader intellectual landscape of the mid-19th century. The book provides insight into the complex interplay of science and religion, reason and faith, and the challenges of cultural exchange. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Amsterdam, F. Günst, 1867. (5e herz.). Met portret. Halflinnen. (IV), 444 pp. Halflinnen.
