Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book takes a deep dive into the academic and personal lives of Harvard University's undergraduate class of 1862, capturing their stories and experiences from their time on campus to their lives in the aftermath of the American Civil War. Turning the lens on both the elite and the…ordinary students of that era, the author sheds light on a group whose paths led them to a myriad of different careers. Be it joining the Union Army, fighting for the Confederacy, pursuing the sciences, committing to social activism, or practicing the arts, the lives of these young men became a microcosm of the tumultuous and transformative changes that the United States underwent during this pivotal time in its history. The reflections from their later years paint a rich picture of the lasting impact of their experiences as undergraduates on their personal philosophies and life choices. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
