Spine is about half gone but book still seems securely together and is square. Wraps are toned and becoming brittle. Relatively remarkable condition for such a cheaply printed book -- and a children's book to boot. ; The Universal Library; Vol. 163; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 194 pages; The only date is 1870 on the Dedication page. However, Hurst was a reprint house, so I would guess that this copy dates from the 1890's to the 1900's.

Spine partially worn away and the bottom right corner on the cover and two more corner have been clipped off - see scan. There is wear on the edges and corners as well as toning throughout. The book is actually a bit better than it sounds. The pages are supple, not brittle, and the whole volume is square and securely bound; The Universal Library; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 194 pages.
