An attempt to produce a version of the Apologia divested of those parts whose appeal was largely to Newman's contemporaries, as the original 'elaborated even the smallest points and invoked confirmatory testimony whose essential interest vanished long ago,' making it unduly heavy going. 19x12.7cms, in the original binding of mauve cloth, largely faded, lower corners and spine ends blunted. Very scarce, and a good copy.
