Polk, Zachary Taylor, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson and Ulysses Grant. As a studied mining geologist (Freiberg Mining Academy) in ''1824 he travelled to Mexico as an agent of the German-American Mining Association, where significant silver mines were suspected.
