Co-written with Laurie Jacobson, the book recalls the workings of mid-century Hollywood, the decline of the old studio system, the rise of television, and the cultural shifts of the 1960s, including the Sunset Strip scene. (DJ) --- In this memoir co-written with entertainment journalist Laurie Jacobson, Jon Provost recounts his years as the freckled child star who played Timmy Martin opposite the famous collie on the long-running CBS series Lassie from 1957 to 1964. The book offers a behind-the-scenes look at mid-century Hollywood, including the decline of the old studio system, the rise of television, and the cultural shifts of the 1960s counterculture along the Sunset Strip. Provost also discusses the personal challenges of growing up as a recognizable child actor and his eventual move away from the wholesome screen image that defined his early career.
