Waite's essay on Penny Dreadfuls, of which this is a preview printing, was composed in the 1920s and remained unpublished until now. It will form part of the work THE QUEST FOR BLOODS, to be published shortly. This printing is reproduced, somewhat larger and considerably more messy, from the typeset text, which will be subject to further editing before final publication." This is no. 10 of only 10 numbered copies, "signed by the editor." The signature is not clearly decipherable and no editor name is provided for the present work. However, Ayresome Johns (a.k.a. George Locke) was the editor of "The Quest for Bloods" (1997, printed for private circulation), referred to above. He is also known as George Locke, and authored "A Spectrum of Fantasy: The Bibliography and Biography of a Collection of Fantastic Literature" (1980) and other works. Near fine; cover page a little age-toned, small bump to rear cover.
