Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. Since ancient times, fascinating individuals have claimed the power to peer into the beyond using everything from crystal balls, trances, and messages from God to ancient spirits and the stars. Visions of Nostradamus and Other Prophets describes their lives and amazing predictions. You'll marvel at when they were on target down to amazingly minute details- and see when they fell short of the mark. Then, read their predictions for events still to come. Prophets profiled include: Nostradamus, who some claim foresaw the French Revolution and the evil reign of Hitler Leonardo da Vinci, the Renaissance artist who sketched submarines and flying machines. Kenneth Mackenzie, a seventeenth-century Scottish seer who received his second sight from a ghost. Jules Verne, the nineteenth-century science fiction writer whose stories featured space travel and television. Andrew Jackson Davis, an American who, in the mid1800s, predicted cars, gasoline, air travel, apartment buildings, and nine planets. Evangeline Adams, an astrologer known as "America's female Nostradamus" Edgar Cayce, who, while in a trance, could accurately diagnose a person's illness from hundreds of miles away-and who predicts a major U.S. earthquake at the turn of the new millennium Jeane Dixon, who sent John F. Kennedy frantic warnings that his life was in danger. merica's female Nostradamus" Edgar Cayce, who, while in a trance, could accurately diagnose a person's illness from hundreds of miles away- and who predicts a major U.S. earthquake at the turn of the new millennium. Paperback. Condición: New. 2nd ed. This book outlines how to reorganize the U.S. Army into a fully 2 and 3-Dimensional maneuver capable, ground force with terrain-agile, armored fighting vehicles sized to rapidly deploy by fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft to the scene of world conflicts and strike at the heart of freedom,s enemies. The plan to build the Army into Air-Mech-Strike Forces, exploiting emerging information-age technologies, as well as America,s supremacy in aircraft and helicopter delivery systems---at the lowest cost to the taxpayers, is described in detail. These Army warfighting organizations, using existing and some newly purchased equipment, will shape the battlefield to America,s advantage, preserving the peace before it is lost; if not, then winning fights that must be fought quickly. The dangerous world we live in moves by the speed of the AIR, and the 21st Century U.S. Army 2D/3D combat team will dominate this medium by Air-Mech-Strike. John E. Richards (ilustrador).…

Condición: Very good. - Over 60 words typed on 9-1/2 inch high by 8 inch wide "Rector's Office, Trinity Parish" stationery. In his brief letter, William Manning informs James B. Pond that he "shall be very happy to serve as a member of the honorary reception committee for M. Maeterlinck on his visit to this country and to sponsor his first lecture". Signed "William T. Manning". Folded for mailing with a torn punch hole at the the top left corner. Very good. The rector of Trinity Church New York from 1908 to 1921, William T. Manning (1866-1949) was the Episcopal Bishop of New York City from 1921 until 1946. Bishop Manning led a major campaign to raise funds for construction on the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. In that capacity he directed a program to train and employ local men as artisans to work on the Cathedral during the Great Depression. Bishop Manning's beliefs could not reconcile themselves with those of the Nobel Prize winning philosopher Bertrand Russell and he led the effort to force the City University of New York to rescind their offer of a professorship to Russell.James B. Pond, the American impresario and lecture agent who headed the J.B. Pond Lyceum Bureau, brought the great Belgian poet Maurice Maeterlinck to America for a series of lectures. The first lecture took place at Carnegie hall on January 2nd, 1920. Unfortunately Maeterlinck failed to carry out his intention to lecture in English because of his labored "phonetic" English. He declared his intention to continue his lectures in French and have the translation read by another person. As a result, the lecture tour was a failure and lawsuits ensued on both sides.…
