Añadir al carritoCondición: Fine. London, March 8, 1961., 1961. Fine. - Over 110 words typed on his 10 inch high by 8 inch wide "John Osborne Productions Ltd." stationery. Replying to a young actor's request for advice, the playwright & actor John Osborne writes "I cannot imagine why you should think I might be able to help or advise you. For one thing I do not know you or your circumstances and I can't quite make out what is is you want to know. If you want to be an actor, go and be one, if you don't, don't. In any case, don't expect to be successful or to be loved." Signed in full "John Osborne". Folded for mailing, else fine with the original air mail envelope. The English playwright, screenwriter and actor John Osborne (1929-1994) is thought of as one of the most influential figures in post-war theatre. He briefly worked as a journalist before working as a stage manager and actor. He gained national recognition and fame with his third produced play "Look Back in Anger" in 1956. This first work of "kitchen sink realism" inspired a movement of social realism within domestic settings addressing the disillusion with British Society. George Fearon coined the phrase "angry young man" to describe Osborne when promoting the play.…

Añadir al carritoSix vintage reference photographs from the 1959 film. Mimeo snipes affixed to the versos of each still. Based on John Osborne's 1956 play of the same name. A superb set of uncommon images. Ripe with both class and sexual tension, Tony Richardson's 1959 film portrays a marriage on the brink of collapse in claustrophobic quarters. In the vein of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," class resentment simmers beneath the surface of a relationship between a man and a woman. Shot on location in England. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus overall. Occasional dampstaining to the margins and versos. Ink notation to the verso of one image.…
