Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. Elizabeth Durack Ilustrador. 1st Edition. Good condition. Wear to book corners and edges. Sticky tape stains to front and back endpages. Previous owner has added a number to half-title page. Missing dust jacket. Book is in non-adhesive protective cover. Body text and binding are still good. This is the story of Captain Charles Sturt's epic journey down the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers to the sea and back again. It is the story of insurance and faith, in which the great explorer binds his party of soldiers and convicts with the closest ties of loyalty, and travels 2000 miles without one striking trouble From the numerous Aboriginal tribes. Firmly based on Sturt's own records of his journey, John Ewers' fictionalised account has all the appeal of a novel. The thoughts and feelings of the convicts so individually betrayed, the striking character of Debonair George Mccleay, and the selflessness and heroism of the leader himself, all emerged to give added significance to a great achievement in the exploration of Australia. (book flap) Illustrated by Elizabeth Durack.

Previous owner has signed front endpage and added dates for his attendaence to the school (1935-1937). Some marks on front endpage. Book has been protected with non-adhesive plastic cover. Body text and binding are still very good. This book was published to recognise the first centenary of the Perth Boys' School and the solid foundation on which free education in Western Australia has been built. The history of school is closely linked with education in Western Australia. The book details important milestones, including the beginnings of education in WA, the establishment of the first school at Rush Church, the formation of an education committee and a Board of Education, the appointment of the first headmaster, and the construction of a permanent school. During this time, tens of thousands of boys have passed through the school. The book also includes enrolment figures, some photographs and a list of students and teachers in the centenary year.
