George Cary Eggleston (1839-1911) was an American author, editor, and journalist best known for his historical writings, memoirs, and works for young readers. A Confederate veteran, he wrote the widely read A Rebel's Recollections as well as a number of boys' adventure stories and historical biographies designed to promote good character and civic understanding. Eggleston served as editor of Hearth and Home and contributed to major periodicals throughout his career.
