Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. A major collection of pioneering work. Two silver-lettered navy blue vinyl volumes each 22x28cm. Volume 1 has extracts from N2-24 with cover page (some from Aramco), Vol 2 an uninterrupted run of N1-9 with original upper wraps, individually numbered with many b/w illustrations. Covers very good with scuffing to edges of Vol 2, interiors fine. The Indian naturalist MA Badshah founded the Saudi Arabian Natural History Society during his Hajj with Faisal's blessing in March 1971. It aimed to raise awareness, publish research through the Journal, assist conservation, raise funds for research, events and expeditions, and meet regularly. The Journal (initially the "Saudi Arabian Natural History Society Report") launched in July 1971, becoming increasingly ad hoc, and SANHS appears to have ceased around 1992 (Worldcat). While its focus is natural history, it covers wider subjects eg Hejaz Railway, rock art, architecture, village evolution, navigation, desert driving, etc. VOL 1 (EXTRACTS): N2 Dec 71 (5)pp plants; N3 Mar 72 pp3-14 Dangerous Red Sea fishes, binoculars; N4 Jun 72 pp7-8 Wheaters; N5 Sep 72 pp8-20 Red Sea fish Checklist; N7 Mar 73 pp22-26 Saudi mammals checklist; N8 Jun 73 (3)pp, pp20-24 Crown of Thorns Starfish, locusts; N9 Sep 73 pp5, 14-17 Arabian Foxes, flowers; N10 Dec 73 pp5-7 bats; N11 Jun 74 pp9-13, 17-21 camels, Al Hurr, dates; N13 pp5, 13-17, (2) Peter Scott, Tadpole shrimps, sea snakes, snake bite, baboons; N15 pp3-19 mammals of ancient Arabia; N16 pp15-18, 20-23 falconry, sand dunes; N17 pp4-10 bats; N18 pp8-11, 13-16 Red Sea conservation, Coluber Elegantissimus; N19 pp3-16, 30-38 snakes, snakebite; N20 1977 (possible page removal) (1), pp6-8, 16-18, (1) Bald Ibis, corals, Yemeni ambergris; N22 pp6-18, 25-33 Procavia Capensis, Reptilia Scinidae; N23 pp10-18 wild goats and sheep; N24 1979 (4)pp, 7-15, (1) writings on Arabia's bird, bilharzia, Arabian Wolf.
