Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the relationship between Switzerland and France during a period of great political upheaval in the late 18th century. The author explores the complex interplay of diplomatic negotiations, military posturing, and revolutionary fervor that shaped the course of events. The book draws on a wealth of primary sources, including diplomatic correspondence, military reports, and personal accounts, to provide a vivid and nuanced account of this turbulent era. The author argues that the Swiss government's initial attempts to maintain neutrality between France and its enemies ultimately proved futile, as the French revolutionary government sought to spread its influence and consolidate its power. The book also sheds light on the role of Swiss citizens who actively supported the French Revolution, and the impact of the conflict on Swiss society and politics. By examining the interplay of internal and external forces, this book offers a valuable perspective on the dynamics of revolution and the challenges faced by small states in the face of geopolitical upheaval.
