Johannes Bohn (Leipzig 1640 - 1718) war Arzt, Physiologe und Hochschullehrer für Anatomie, Chirurgie und Therapie, der vor allem durch seine Schriften zur Rechtsmedizin Bedeutung erlangte. Er war in den Jahren 1693 und 1694 Rektor der Universität Leipzig. Wie auch Gottfried Welsch setzte sich Johannes Bohn für die Sektion im Rahmen gerichtsmedizinischer Untersuchungen ein. Die Bezeichnung des jungen Faches als "Medicina forensis" geht auf Bohn zurück.- Papier etw. gebräunt.

Important ouvrage de médecine légale, discipline dans laquelle l'auteur s'était déjà illustré en publiant dès 1689 un remarquable traité sur les blessures mortelles (voir Garrison-Morton, 1726). Le présent volume réunit en un seul corps d'ouvrage diverses observations sur la pratique médico-légale, avec notamment une codification de la procédure d'autopsie. "Ouvrage excellent dans lequel Bohn prétend que les juges ne doivent pas aisément se fixer aux rapports des chirurgiens" (Bayle et Thillaye). Papier un peu bruni. Bon exemplaire.

Second edition. Dr. Johannes Bohn was a noted 17th century German physician, professor of medicine, and pioneer in forensic science. He introduced the policy of thorough autopsies of the deceased. Bohn's specialty was the investigation of lethal wounds, which is what this book is about. In this treatise Dr. Bohn analyzes purposeful vs accidental fatal wounds. It is one of the relatively few important works to survive Bohn's stipulation in his will that his scientific writings be burnt. Bound in full vellum with title page printed in red and black. Spine titled by hand in ink. Text is in Latin. Old ink name on title page. Boards splayed but hinges sound.
