Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good+. First Edition. First edition, first printing. xliv, 428 pp. Illustrated with 19 inserted charts, of which 6 are foldout, with additional linen-backed chart tipped to back pastedown. Bound in publisher's brick red cloth with gilt-lettered spine. Very Good+ with light wear to covers and soiling to textblock edges; binding cracked at page 353. Foxing to textblock edges, endpapers, and prelims, and occasionally throughout. Printed by Charles Dickens (Jr.) and Evans at the Crystal Palace Press. William Stanley Jevons was an influential British economist and philosopher and one of the main contributors to the marginal utility theory of value. This book was published two years after his death by drowning, and was completed by H.S. Foxwell from Jevons' papers. Includes essays such as "On the Study of Periodic Commercial Fluctuations," "The Variation of Prices, and the Value of the Currency since 1782," "The Depreciation of Gold," "An Ideally Perfect System of Currency" (previously unpublished), and "The Silver Question." Jevons' lifelong interest in science is reflected in "Commercial Crises and Sun-Spots," an interesting essay on the connection between the appearance of sunspots and cycles of economic crisis.
