Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. The ability for people to connect, learn, and communicate about science has been enhanced through the Internet, specifically through social media platforms. Facebook and Twitter are well-studied, while Instagram is understudied. This Element provides insight into using Instagram as a science education platform by pioneering a set of calculated metrics, using a paleontology-focused account as a case study. Framed by the theory of affinity spaces, the authors conducted year-long analyses of 455 posts and 139 stories that were created as part of an informal science learning project. They found that team activity updates and posts outside of their other categories perform better than their defined categories. For Instagram stories, the data show that fewer slides per story hold viewers' attention longer, and stories using the poll tool garnered the most interaction. This Element provides a baseline to assess the success of Instagram content for science communicators and natural science institutions.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover, xix + 299 pages, NOT ex-library. Book is clean and bright with unmarked text, free of inscriptions and stamps, firmly bound. Gentle handling wear only. Creased untorn dust jacket. -- This authoritative clinical volume provides the first comprehensive scientific framework for a distinct eating disorder characterised by evening hyperphagia and nocturnal awakenings to consume food, offering a definitive resource for researchers and practitioners. The text marks a significant milestone in psychiatric research, tracing the syndrome from its initial description in 1955 by pioneering editor Albert J. Stunkard to its formal consideration for inclusion in the DSM. It integrates the latest findings on the etiology of the syndrome, including genetic factors, circadian rhythm disturbances, and neuroendocrine dysregulation, specifically examining the roles of melatonin, leptin, and cortisol. The book also systematically reviews common psychiatric and medical comorbidities associated with the condition. The contributors provide validated assessment tools, including the Night Eating Questionnaire, and outline specific diagnostic criteria used to differentiate the condition from binge eating disorder and sleep-related eating disorder. A major portion of the work is dedicated to evidence-based interventions, detailing step-by-step guidance for cognitive-behavioural therapy, pharmacotherapy with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, and light therapy. By bridging the gap between sleep medicine and nutritional science, the book establishes a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and offers clinicians a structured methodology for managing patients.
