"Jackson pleads and reasons and even threatens in a desperate effort to make his family understand his life, to make them aware of the monstrous things that are being done to him inside prison because he refuses to submit to the debasing and brutalizing practices of the prison authorities, to make the family accept his total commitment to revolutionary change (from the flap text).
