VI, 2, (1)416, (2) p., and 2 plates protected with tissue (portrait of Columbus and a double portrait of Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile) and a folding map of Central America. The earliest historical book about Columbus, his voyages and discovery of the Americas in Hungarian by a Hungarian. Danielik (18171888) gives Columbus's biography and the historical background of his voyages to the Americas. The book is illustrated with a portrait of Columbus, depicts him on the coast of America, stands under a palm tree with a map in his hand and Santa María in the background; a royal double-portrait of Ferdinand and Isabelle the sponsors of Columbus first voyage. The folding map of the Central America shows also the Caribbean islands the northern part of South America and the south of North America, the coast of Louisiana, New Orleans, Mississippi River Delta and the peninsula of Florida. Not in Sabin. . Moderate foxing throughout effecting the plates more intensely. A stain on front panel. Cover and spine somewhat rubbed, bumped. Overall in very good condition.
