Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the price discrepancies between central market egg reports and the prices paid to producers of eggs in selected north central states. The author's extensive research took place in the years following World War II when the market integration of egg sales was occurring at more than the state or regional level, resulting in a decline in the volume of eggs that moved from surplus production areas, through central markets, to deficit areas of the country. The decades spanning the 1940s to the 1970s saw improved transportation, reliable refrigerated trucks, and cooperative organizations bypass central markets such as Chicago and connect distant buyers directly to surplus production areas. The author also examines whether the central market egg reports, disseminated through various secondary sources and media outlets, were accurately reflecting the realities of the evolving egg market dynamics across the nation, specifically in the years 1955-1957. While the author's findings are focused on a specific time and locale, they may resonate with contemporary circumstances, and people interested in the historical development of agricultural markets, agricultural economics, and issues surrounding price discrepancies along a supply chain may find this book especially insightful. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
