Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. 1st editions except for issue 1 (the blue cover variant, rather than black). 4to. Stapled wrappers. Paginated consecutively from pp.1-540 then pp.617-668, issues 5 and 8 with additional 4pp. centrefolds advertising The Rainbow Alliance Project. Illustrated. But for double issue 13/14, a complete set of 'EPi' ('like teepee', with the 'international' part used, though not always, from issue 5 onwards). The 'official organ of the Zippies', where 'ZIPPY is simply a word to describe a '90s kind of WoMan and of consciousness which has already begun to appear in increasing numbers' ('you might already be one'). 'Zippy = '60s Hippy + Technoperson. Zippies work at combining idealism with private enterprise in a new kind of entrepreneurial socialism.' The plan was for one hundred volumes to be published by the year 2000, each covering a separate theme, the whole 'embodying the greatest distillation of human wisdom/potential of all time, the bible not excluded'. Including: (1) Hippy issue: 'Carpets in the Amazon: A Mytho-Poetica, Meta-Bio Trip to the Sixties' by Hamilton, 'History of Hip from 2,000bc to 2,000ad' by George Firsoff, and 'The WoManifesto for World Recreation' as revealed to Clark; (2) Paganism: shamanism, D.H. Lawrence, Henry Miller, Grace Nichols, an interview with Carlos Castaneda, and a guru test compiled with the help of Nicholas Albery; (3) Science and Superconsciousness: electronic psychedelics, the Gaia hypothesis, AIDS, and an obituary of R. Gordon Wasson; (4) Festivals: Woodstock, Stonehenge, Hawkwind, Mick Farren, Neil Oram, the Freelandia 2000 Trust, and 'The Day John Lennon Died' by Ken Kesey; (5) Sanity: Timothy Leary, R.D. Laing, Hans Plomp (El Plompo), Situationism, Goa, John Michell, and 'The Psychedelic Rantings Of Gamesh Baba' (with Ira Cohen); (6) Poets: Bob Dylan, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Daevid Allen, Genesis P-Orridge, Dave Cunliffe, and John Rowan; (7) Western Civilization?: Robert Bly, Gaia, and astrology; (8) Psychedelic HeroInes A-K: Charles Bukowski on Neal Cassady as well as Timothy Leary on Richard Alpert and Abbie Hoffman; (9) Psychedelic HeroInes L-Z: Timothy Leary interviewed; (10) Highs and Lows: ecstasy, magic mushrooms, and Clair Brush (then of the 'Los Angeles Free Press') on the LA Acid Test in February 1966; (11) Magic Politics: Chicago '68 and the Yippies, Tony Benn on the Levellers, John Michell on Stonehenge, and Andrew Weatherall; (12) the Goddess issue: Gaia, Lilith, Margaret Alic, and 'Healing the Patriarchal Dis-ease'; and (15) Love: Timothy Leary, Jamie Reid, and David Tibet. A Very Good collection, the first few issues and issue 10 somewhat rubbed/handled and marked outwardly, issue 2 with a patch of soiling to the front, issue 6 with a small dent to the front, the upper wrapper of issue 12 with a 5cm tear at its tail, some spotting to the edges, one pair of staples slightly rusty internally, but often rather crisp. Also present are: a short ALS ('James') from Hamilton to the original owner, who has provided a recent note of provenance; 5 items (all double-sided) along similar lines: a flyer for 'Zippy Times' ('the inner pocket guide for flower children with attitude'); 'Megatripolitan' (a 'future perfect newsflash': 'US INVADES UK. Internet War: Zippies launch Assault to defend Democratic Rights of British Citizens and Ravers via Cyberspace'); a handbill from 'evolution' acting as both a temporary membership and an information sheet about drugs; a handbill for 'The Warp!' (24-hour party and play presented by Parallel Youniversity, 1999); and a poster (folded down) for 'The New Human Be-In' ('a 12-hour activation of the San Francisco-London ley line', 2002); and lastly, 'Cuckoo Roots' vol. 2 no. 1, edited by Clark and Hamilton (London, 1981; 4to, stapled wrappers, 48pp. + centre pullout), containing an extract from Clark's novel 'Megatripolis Forever'. Somewhat tired, stained to the lower corner, albeit quite unobtrusively, and spotted outwardly. Signed by Editor.…
