Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. Quite apart from her position as the wife and model of Lovis Corinth (1858-1925), Charlotte Berend-Corinth (1880-1967) shone as an artist and was, like Kaethe Kollwitz, one of the few women members of the Berlin Secession. This bibliophile monograph is dedicated to the highly gifted, successful and unfairly neglected artist and presents an impressive synopsis of her oeuvre. Berend-Corinth pursued a remarkable career with ultra-modern, radical subjects in the Berlin of the 1910s and 1920s until her Jewish descent compelled her to leave Germany and to emigrate to the United States. Her early work, in which she captured the permissive mood of the Berlin art and theatre scene during the 1910s and 1920s, represents one main area of focus, as do the later portraits of famous personalities of her time and some of her remarkable self-portraits, still lifes and landscape pictures. Moris belongs to a young generation of Mexican artists who work with found objects spit out by Mexico City, with its some twenty million inhabitants. Violence and poverty are part of everyday life in the metropolis. After completing his art studies, Moris discovered the artistic potential of the demimonde and the favelas, in whose surroundings he lives and works. He depicts the authentic milieu, shows the banality of violence through collecting the material of the streets so as to stage this "evidence from hell" anew in the exhibition space. His sculptures, such as the pair of shoes into which a knife has been stuck, occasionally cause pain that is nearly physical. Dirt-covered t-shirts of windshield washers become the flag of the struggle to survive. The catalogue for the extensive exhibition in Saarbrücken presents the entire spectrum of Moris's work of recent years for the first time. -First Search.
