The volume integrates black-and-white photography of the restricted monastic grounds, hermitages, and surrounding Kentucky knobs with analytical essays by Merton scholar Monica Weis. The resulting visual exploration bridges religious biography and landscape photography, demonstrating how the physical environment profoundly shaped the subject's spiritual development and his influential writings on nature and contemplation. The physical volume is an oversize quarto, bound in blue cloth over tan boards with silver gilt lettering stamped to the spine.
