Auch Basedow war von Sulzer beeinflusst. Die "Vorübungen" erschienen zuerst 1768 als einbändiges Lese- und Übungsbuch für das Kgl. Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium in Berlin, fanden aber darüber hinaus weite Verbreitung. Nach Sulzers Tod (1779) gab der Joachimsthaler Rektor Meierotto eine Neubearbeitung heraus, die nun ihrerseits Einflüsse von Basedow und dem Philanthropismus aufnimmt und verarbeitet.
