Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This offering is a vintage copy of The Rhine, Italy - Greece in a Series of Drawings from Nature by Colonel Cockburn; Major Irton; Messrs. Bartlett, Leitch, and Wolfensberger with Historical and Legendary Descriptions by the Rev. G. N. Wright . The book was published by Fisher, Son & Co. in 1841 and appears to be a First Edition . . . I'm not even sure whether things like that mattered back then. The book is in very good + condition (Particularly for having been published nearly 200 years ago and has no dust jacket. The book is 8 7/8" by 11" and has 80-some pages with NONE of the dozens of beautifully done black-and-white illustrations (each protected by a page of "onion-skin" paper) counted in that page count. I'd say that it might have 150 pages total. It has leather boards with gilded decorations for a binding. What a great book for the Rhine historian . . . or any artist who appreciates beautifully done black-and-white illustrations of 200 years ago. Thank you. Colonel Cockburn; Major Irton; Messrs. Bartlett, Leitch, and Wolfensberger (ilustrador).…

Half Leather. Condición: Very Good binding. Wright and Buckingham's historical descriptions of various places in Belgium, the Rhine, Italy, Greece, and the Shores and Islands of the Mediterranean, with engraved illustrations by various artists. Complete with two volumes bound in one. Vol. I is complete with all 73 plates called for in the 'Contents,' though "Great Canal, and Antique Gothic House" [or "Ghent"] is bound in at Vol. II, p. 58, and "The City of Catania and Mount Etna" is bound in near Vol. II, p. 152. Vol. II is lacking pp. 25-32, and pp. 49-56, and also lacks the eight plates that would have been in those two signatures. This is quite possibly a binder's error, as there does not appear to be any explicit damage to the textblock at those locations; the binder also misplaces a number of plates, though most of these errors are simply a few pages off. Vol. I with all 73 plates. Vol. II with 73 of the 81 plates. Altogether with 146 of the 154 plates, which includes the frontispieces and additional title pages, engraved. Some foxing to the plates; previous owners' names on the front pastedown and recto of the initial frontispiece lacking front endpaper. Surface wear to the joints, spine, and corners of the boards. Some soiling to the cloth covered boards. Half brown leather with designs in blind, decorative gilt rules, and gilt lettering, and gray cloth covered boards. Very Good. Very Good binding.…
