From the Introduction, "Opened in 1971 and expanded in 1974, the historical exhibition in Berlin's Reichstag building reflects that period of German history when essential foundations were laid for our nation's current governmental, social, and economic system and illustrates the forces, ideas, and decisions from which this system developed. The exhibition points out the far-reaching changes which occurred throughout out the world, and the political situations which decisively affected Germany's historical development during the 19th and 20th centuries are analysed (sic) in detail.
