Añadir al carritoCloth. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Albert Hurter Ilustrador. The Foundation of Disney Magic: A Rare Original 1948 Edition Step behind the scenes of the Golden Age of Animation with He Drew as He Pleased: A Sketchbook (1948). This stunning volume serves as the primary archive for the visionary sketches of Albert Hurter, the man whose imagination breathed life into the most iconic characters of the 20th century. Why this book is a crown jewel for any collection: The Architect of Dreams: Albert Hurter was the unsung genius at Walt Disney Studios throughout the 1930s. His whimsical, masterful drawings provided the conceptual bedrock for legendary classics, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Dumbo. Rare Content: This sketchbook features over 700 of Hurter's inspirational drawings. Published posthumously in accordance with his final wishes, it remains the most comprehensive record of his unique creative process. Historical Significance: Hurter's influence on the animation industry is immeasurable; his designs established the visual language for the "Disney look" that defined the studio for generations. Condition Note: This vintage 1948 edition is a collector's find. The dust jacket shows signs of age with some chips and tears along the edges, consistent with its long history. A true survivor from the heart of the Disney animation era. Whether you are a historian of film, a student of illustration, or a devoted Disney collector, this sketchbook is an essential, tangible link to the artistry that built the world's most famous animation studio. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Illustrated by Albert Hurter Ilustrador. First Edition. (paper-covered boards; no dust jacket, probably as issued) [general external wear and age-toning, slight damage to both ends of spine, small dent in top edge of front cover]. (pen and ink drawings) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author/poet in the upper left corner of the front endpaper: "To Charley King, just / because I like him. / Elwood / Los Angeles / Dec. 1925." Short (one-page) verses, in commemoration all the major holidays (well, the Christian ones, anyway) -- "That we may remember our National Holidays are more than mere names." Covered are: New Year; Lincoln's Birthday; Washington's Birthday (yes, these great men weren't always forced to share a single holiday); Good Friday; Easter; Arbor Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Armistice Day; Thanksgiving; and Christmas. The poetry is pretty hokey, but the illustrations are quite lovely. The illustrator, Albert Hurter, was later (1931) hired by the Walt Disney Studio as its first "inspirational sketch artist," and from then until his death in 1942 he had a significant influence on the look of the studio's animated shorts and features, in particular SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS and PINCOCCHIO. As explained in a recent FB post: "As the 'old man of the studio,' his exposure to the European art world, memory for details, and his fertile, creative mind made Hurter indispensable to the Disney staff." Scarce, with OCLC locating copies in only six libraries -- five of them in California. Signed by Author.
