Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good (+). No Jacket. 1st ed. unpag.prelims+412, portrait plates of each of the 9 authors (as listed above) prior to their contributions; internally clean, tight & unmarked, large 1926-dated sig.front endpaper, a few eraseable pencil notes to front pastedown. Red cloth covers clean but spine ends rubbed and small dent front outer edge. Main problem however is that front joint has become loose, internal gutter split now cosmetically sealed but the textblock shakiness remains. Nonetheless an excellent reference/working copy of this historically important text providing position statements by leading psychological theorists; notable that psychoanalysis is not included and McDougall's 'Hormic' psychology is grouped with Morton Prince under heading 'Purposive Groups' (McD.'s 2 chaps are called 'Men or Robots' (I, II) (the word robot having been coined only 5 years previously by Czech playwright Capek this was quite trendy of him.) Murchison's name does not actually appear on t.p., but he authored the Preface.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates animal and human behavior in relation to a specific stimulus-response experiment. The author goes to great lengths to explain how traditional laboratory methods are insufficient to conclude that an animal's response is prompted by an absent stimulus. They discuss the theory of images and ideas, considering an animal's ability to conceptualize and remember objects, subsequently demonstrating how the author's results open up new possibilities for the study of animal intelligence. The experiments described in this book are part of a long history of scientific debate regarding whether animals possess the ability to problem-solve and learn. The author provides a comprehensive review of current research on animal intelligence, arguing that the presence of images in an animal's consciousness is not necessary to explain their behavior, challenging traditional models of behaviorism. The author's experiments provide new insights into the nature of animal intelligence and learning, and offer a fresh perspective on the relationship between humans and animals. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the relatively new and exciting field of animal psychology. The author traces its evolution, beginning with the pioneering work of Darwin and Romanes in the 19th century, and demonstrates how it has become an increasingly objective science thanks in part to the development of rigorous experimental methods. The book surveys the full range of animal behavior, from basic sensory and motor capacities to more complex forms of learning and intelligence. Through detailed examples of animal behavior, the author examines topics including tropisms, instincts, sensory processes, the formation of habits, imitation, and the delayed reaction. This book provides a ground breaking look at the methods, principles, and fascinating findings of animal psychology, highlighting the continuity of human and animal sensory and motor activities. It emphasizes the significant contribution that animal psychology has made to our understanding of human nature. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines how rats perform differently when introduced to mazes of varying degrees of difficulty, following various stages and combinations of training. The author experimented with the learning behaviors of different rat groups across multiple maze variations and sequences. The rats' performance outcomes were measured across numerous parameters including time, trials, and errors. Results were analyzed to determine whether there was a positive or negative transfer of training between mazes, and whether or not this effect was cumulative and persistent across the different mazes and conditions. Findings suggest that positive transfer of training is present when rats learn subsequent mazes, and that this transfer effect persists across a series of mazes. However, the data does not suggest that the transfer is cumulative, as there were various instances where the transfer decreased over the course of three maze learnings. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into the nature of learning transfer and its implications for understanding how learning occurs. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
