There is a blind tooled portrait of John Dyer on the front cover designed by William Ware. There are four wood engravings by John Petts. Unpaginated. Quarter Leather. Condición: Good. 1st Edition. Published in 1880, in an edition of 300 copies, of which 100 were printed on India Paper, this is one of the India paper copies bound in quarter leather with leather title label to upper cover. A large folio format measuring 18 inches tall approx., illustrated with twenty-nine etched plates with accompanying text. CONDITION The binding has some scuffing and rubbing wear, wear to corners. Internally some browning and light foxing to the plate borders, around four of the text pages have had tape repairs to short leading edge tears to the blank reverse of the pages, one also with a repair to a lower page edge (all pictured) although now noticeable browned (as can be seen in the photos) there is very little show through to the other side of the pages. One page (pictured) has had a tape strengthening repair to the inner margin, tape now removed on this repair, but it has left some brown staining. some pencil ticks to the contents page which could easily be erased if desired, Otherwise, an acceptable example of the scarce India paper edition.
