Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the crucial link between letter size and visibility in signage, providing practical guidance for designers and specifiers. Drawing on a wealth of empirical research, the author presents a simple formula that determines the optimal letter size for any given viewing distance and observer visual acuity. The formula is based on the assumption that beyond a few meters, a person's visual acuity is primarily determined by the visual angle subtended by an object. By incorporating allowances for variations in contrast and background luminance, the book equips readers with the tools to compensate for non-standard conditions. The author emphasizes that letter size should not be a one-size-fits-all approach but rather customized to accommodate different viewing distances and individual visual abilities. Proper consideration of these factors ensures effective communication and safety, particularly in situations where signs convey critical information or warnings. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
