Hardcover. Condición: Collectible-Very Good. Original publisher's 3/4 black leather binding with black cloth boards. 11 1/2" x 15 3/4." 432 pages, complete. Black and white advertisements, some of which are illustrated, are interspersed throughout the volume. Pages and covers are very clean and intact. Binding is tight. Spine and corners have some wear. The Argonaut was a daily newspaper that was published between 1878 and 1956. It was founded by Frank Somers and based in San Francisco, California. Soon after the Argonaut's founding, Frank M. Pixley took over and helped turned it into a successful, highly-regarded political newspaper. In 1907, Alfred Holman purchased the newspaper company and was its editor and publisher until 1924. The articles vary in length, but most are fairly brief at about one paragraph long. The following is a sampling of the articles contained in this volume: "America and England in China," "The Crisis in Mexico," "Mr. Roosevelt's Candidacy," "Democratic Primary Elections," "Recognition of Chinese Republic," "San Francisco 'Examiner' Strike," "Aeroplane in the Tripoli War," "Bismarck Sympathetic," "Canadian War of Secession," "Educated Chimpanzees Exhibited in London," "Hurricanes and Blizzards in Western Europe," "Mental Aversions to Particular Words," "Switzerland's Laws Relating to Married Women," "The Vatican Library," and "Women's Suffrage Not Yet Granted in China." Index to contents in the front.…
