The research for this study, partially documented here, would have been impossible without the help of the New York State Council on the Arts Architectural Fellowships Program, administered by Educational Facilities Laboratories. This pamphlet is an extension of material originally prepared for the lecture "American City Fabrics", for Syracuse School of Architecture, Syracuse, New York December 6, 1978. Redrawn plans, sections, and axonometrics are by Joseph Fenton. Research and drawing assistants were Suzanne Powadiuk, Arthur Perkins, George Wagner and Michael Duddy. Layout was by Jennifer Sage, and editing of text by Joshua Katz and Elena Brunet. Photography was by Beckett Logan and the author.…
