FIRST UK EDITION 1987 (first published the same year in the US), 4to, 310 x 235 mm, 12¼ x 9¼ inches, pink glazed boards with coloured illustration, light green endpapers, (30) pages. Every page beautifully illustrated in colour with the brief rhyme text and a number of crows on the lefthand page ("One is for bad news, Two is for… mirth, Three is a wedding etc. up to "Twelve is for Joy Tomorrow"); on the righthand page is a full colour illustration depicting the line of the rhyme acted out by splendidly dressed anthropomorphic weasels and minks, plus other animals and birds. The frame around the illustrations contains various symbols which are explained at the rear of the book. No inscriptions, a Fine crisp copy (issued without dustwrapper).
