Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. Learn about the state of the art in building artificial membranes and synthetic biological devices, and in constructing mathematical models for their dynamics at multiple time and spatial scales with this comprehensive book. Drawing on recent advances in bioengineering and biochemistry, it describes how to engineer tethered bilayer lipid membranes, bioelectronic interfaces, high-resolution biosensors, and diagnostic devices for non-invasive cellular measurements and electroporation. Multi-physics models combining atomistic (molecular dynamics and coarse-grained molecular dynamics), mesoscopic (PoissonNernstPlanck), and macroscopic (reaction-rate theory) dynamics provide a complete structure-to-function description of these devices. Experiments and dynamic models explain how anti-microbial peptides penetrate membranes, how molecular machine biosensors built out of artificial membranes can detect femtomolar concentrations, and how electroporation can be controlled. Supported by atomistic simulation code online, this is essential reading for researchers, students and professionals in bioengineering, chemical engineering, biophysics, applied mathematics, and electrical engineering. Combining synthesis with mathematical modelling, this is a state-of-the-art guide to building artificial membranes for biological devices. Supported by numerous case studies and molecular dynamics simulation code, it provides a powerful toolkit for researchers, students and professionals in bioengineering, biophysics and electrical engineering. Shipping may be from our Sydney, NSW warehouse or from our UK or US warehouse, depending on stock availability.

Añadir al carrito8vo. 160, xxxix, [1] pp. With 100's of text illustrations. Colour-illustrated softcovers, cover art of a variety of questionable initiation rituals, and the required equipment and illusion apparatus, rounded corners (minor closed tear at lower left corner, minor bumping to foot of spine, very slight creasing & thumbing to covers), still a VG- bright copy. First edition, thus, of this esoteric and inventive catalogue filled with extensive hazing & gag paraphernalia, magical illusions, trick equipment, mechanical oddities, props, and costumes. The outlandish gag props included mechanical goats & rams on wheels, airplane pedal cars rigged with firecrackers, electric shock chairs, rugs, couches, faux guillotine fitted with fire-crackers, skeletons to hang over the candidates bed while asleep, and even a blindfolded fight cage. Other fun apparatus include the devil's electric branding iron (complete with devil suit), several spanking machines, knife throwing gags, and the "Devil's Slide." Issued at the height of the fraternal order movement in North America, the popular company's equipment was used for hazing rituals, initiations, order advancement, and magicians. The DeMoulin Bros. began with Ed in 1892 as a photographer and photo studio, who first invented his patented trick photography attachment in 1892, followed by their move into manufacturing, and expansion of the factory in Greenville where they quickly began producing band uniforms as well by 1901. Occasionally the employees used their own equipment, and practical joke by DeMoulin n'er-do-wells against a local railroad agent resulted in a $ 5000.00 judgement against the company. Original editions of these catalogues are quite scarce. Worldcat locates 1 copy (Winterthur).

They live in a magical forest known as Spring Meadow. The sisters are good and kind, but an evil wizard named Topaz wants to get rid of them. He and his mean fat cat, Grizzell, do not like the sisters. Throughout the series, the reader will meet many other characters. For example, June is a character introduced in book four. Readers will want to buy this book because some of the characters are unlike those in traditional children's stories. Milkwhite, for instance, is not a character you would find in stories such as Sleeping Beauty or Winnie the Pooh. She is a very flirtatious character who uses charm and persuasion to try to turn evil wizards into good ones.
