Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book invites readers into the contemplative world of fishing, particularly the art of trout fishing. The author, a seasoned angler and clergyman, shares his lifelong passion for the sport, weaving together personal anecdotes, practical insights, and reflections on the deeper meaning of angling. The narrative beautifully situates trout fishing within the broader context of American recreational activities and its historical significance as a pastime enjoyed by figures like Isaac Walton. The author delves into the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of fishing, exploring themes of communion with nature, patience, and the pursuit of simple joys. He contrasts the differing motivations of those who fish for sport and those who fish for sustenance, highlighting the unique fulfillment found in mastering the techniques and appreciating the inherent beauty of the pursuit itself. The book ultimately underscores fishing, especially trout fishing, as more than just a recreational activity; it is a pathway to self-discovery, a source of serenity, and a means of connecting with the natural world and its Creator. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Añadir al carritoNo Binding. Condición: Fair. Printed for R Butters, Fleet Street, London, no date; small 6mo, 48pp; disbound from a larger work, perhaps a collection of plays such as in a volume of "The Theatrical Magazine" an advertisement for which appears on the final page, and in consequence without covers; slight damage (without text loss) to the title page and a tiny worm track affecting the very foot of the last six leaves; outer pages somewhat dust marked and with some further dust marking and evidence of handling internally. Based on and adapted from Voltaire's five act tragedy "Mahomet" - which was first staged in April 1741 - Miller's version opened almost exactly three years later and a few days before his death aged around 40. The fifth act of his version was completed by his friend John Hoadley. There's no indication of the date of printing but as Butters's business was at 79 Fleet Street at least during the period 1782 to 1795 (later moving to 22 Fetter Lane) this window is consistent with the general appearance of the printing of this play.
