Growing up in Grimsby, once the world's premier fishing town, Hildred developed a fascination with the sounds, shapes, and structures of industrial environments. This early interest shaped his artistic focus, leading him to meticulously record the changing face of industrial Britain. Throughout his career, Hildred has produced an extensive body of work capturing factories, mines, railways, and urban scenes, preserving the visual heritage of Britain's industrial past. His art serves as both historical documentation and a tribute to the architectural and cultural significance of these environments. Hildred's dedication to recording these landscapes has earned him recognition among historians, conservationists, and art enthusiasts alike. In 2012, acknowledging the importance of his work, Hildred donated over 600 of his drawings to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, ensuring their preservation for future generations. His contributions continue to offer invaluable insights into the industrial heritage of the United Kingdom.
