Printed prospectus soliciting subscribers for "Flesh", a collection "of twenty-two short stories, each with a definite leaning toward the unusual, the exotic, the bizarre, the daring, in the portrayal of sex and its offspring, love" (p.[2]). Markets the author as "the twentieth century heir to Balzac". Privately printed with typ…ography designed by Robert S. Josephy. Edition limited to 525 copies, each with six full-page and numerous in-text illustrations on Navarre paper "bound in full black buckram, with gold figure stamping, and boxed". Lists subscription price as $12.50, and includes a mail-in form for ordering copies at the foot of the last page. There was at least one trade edition, in 1949. Illustrated bifolium (9" by 6") printed on laid paper. Near-fine. Letter folds, offsetting.
