'Apex: The Inside Story of the Hillman Imp' is the definitive book chronicling the development, launch, and troubled production of the 1960s British economy car. It's a detailed history of this unusual economy car, born from the 1956 Suez fuel crisis. The Henshaw brothers explore the political pressure to build the factory in Scotland, the technical challenges, and the car's cult status today. The story covers the Rootes Group's 'Slug' project, the Linwood factory issues, and various variants from prototype to final production, with a thoroughly updated 2023 edition available. The car had a reputation as a highly-strung, advanced, but often unreliable machine. This third edition from 2023 is heavily updated, with many new colour photos, and details on rare prototypes. New 2023 Edition includes: New chapter - the Imp since the 1970s 89 black & white photos, plus 145 in colour, mostly new Rare Prototypes - Gillie, Asp, Swallow etc Imp Club celebrations of 40th, 50th & 60th Anniversaries Racing, Spares, BMW Conversion Plus the full Imp story: Slug to Apex; the Linwood story; Mk1; Mk2; all the variants; Mk3 to the end.
