This example is housed in a period Irving-Pitt No. 509 leather loose-leaf binder (patented 1904/1905), consistent with known early presentations. The volume includes photographic plates and typed text leaves, arranged in alternating plate/text sequence as originally issued. Wegener's plates - high-contrast monochrome reproductions - document a wide stylistic and chronological range of antique buttons, many rare and some now scarcely seen outside museum collections or early collectors' archives. This copy retains substantial contemporary collector/dealer annotations throughout, significantly enhancing its research value. The annotations including pricing, rarity notes, identifications, cross-references, and corrections - are in the hand of Alice Helgestad, whose name appears on the title leaf as well as on the inserted title index ('By Alice Helgestad').
