Illustrated with many additional b&w reproductions of photos, drawings and sketches on coated paper; plus two full color lithographs with tissue guards. Dark brown publisher's cloth, cover titles stamped in gilt, blind stamped borders…. Blank preliminary inscription in ink: "Presented to Chief Eng'r J. Reed, Str. Predemonte, by Capt. M. A. Healy U.S.R.M., San Francisco, Cal. Mar. 12th 1890." Bookplate of Joseph M. Gleason on the front pastedown endpaper. Horizontal crease to the front board, spine sunned, corners bumped, edges rubbed, leaves minimally foxed, small ink stamped inventory number on verso of the title page and occasionally throughout. Captain Healy's report is followed by Descriptions of Bogoslov Island and the New Volcano in Bering Sea by Lieut. J. C. Cantwell and Surgeon H. W. Yemans, Cantwell's Exploration of the Kowak River and S. B. McLenegan's Notes on the Natural History, Resources and birds of Kowak River.
