With three black and white illustrations by Ardizzone. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with slight bumping to the corners, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with sm…all creases to the corners of a few late pages, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper that has a few short closed tears at the folds and is a little faded to the spine. Not price-clipped (8s. 6d. on the front flap). Scarce. A comic novel about a group of women and children fleeing England in a tramp steamer during World War II. The third collaboration between Hazel Pynegar and Noel Langley, one of the screenwriters of 'The Wizard of Oz'. Illustrated by the Kate Greenaway Medal-winning illustrator and war artist Edward Ardizzone.
