Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book, set during the First World War, is a fascinating account of the experiences of American Consul Harr G. Selter. Selter was appointed to Breslau, Germany and was soon tasked with welcoming and providing support for a unit of the American Red Cross, which included both surgeons and nurses. This book follows Selter through his time spent in Breslau and his visit to a nearby city which housed another unit of the Red Cross, Gleiwitz. Through his interactions with the wounded soldiers and the Red Cross staff, Selter offers a unique perspective on the horrors of war and the profound sacrifices made by those who fought and volunteered to help them. The author also includes a discussion about the Iron Cross, a prestigious German military decoration, exploring its history and significance. Not only is this book an important historical document, but it is also a moving tribute to the bravery and compassion of all involved in the war effort.
