Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fair. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. 127 pages (complete). Caldecott, who died in 1876 not quite reaching his 40th birthday, was a much regarded and admired artist and illustrator. He was able to include the Royal Academy, Van Gogh and Gaugin among his admirers. He frequently drew humorous drawings of fashionable society and this contribution is included here. The humour is ironic, satirical and although ascerbic, never unkind. The book has, at some stage, been rebound. This cover is grubby and worn. It has some buckling. Nonetheless it is secure. The front cover has the title inscribed upon it. The contents, taking their age into account, are in fair and genial condition. The pages are clean, clear, sure, content, welcoming and mischievous. fk. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.…

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fine. Dust Jacket Included. 25x16cm, 70pp. With illustrations by Harold Blackburn printed in black, and a fold-out map by Macdonald Gill printed in colour. Bound in paper-covered boards with design based on woven cloth in red and green, title to upper board and backstrip, with similarly-printed dustjacket (no spine title) and a later acetate wrapper, TLS from William Haigh, the 'devisor' of the book, to Lady Moynihan laid-in. 'Seen through the press' by Francis Meynell, with covers and endpapers by Barnett Freedman and printed at the Curwen Press, this book has impeccable fine press credentials. Lavish is rather overstating things, but it is all most elegantly done. It might be said (with no disrespect intended to the Huddersfield and District Woollen Export Board) that the book's quality is rather out of proportion to its subject matter, which stands now as a record of a vanished industry. One strongly suspects that Haigh was a fine printing enthusiast himself. A lovely copy, with an uncommonly well-preserved dustjacket. Fine, with Near Fine (unclipped price, very slight crushing along the top edge) dustjacket, with the small discreet blind-embossed stamp of Dr Trevor Weston to the corner of the rear endpaper. Harold Blackburn, Barnett Freedman (ilustrador).…
