A good portion of this.is devoted to his California experiences, especially in Sacrament, Stockton, Sonoma and Napa." --Kurutz 166 _____ _____ Both Mattes (#418) & Kurutz (#166) cite only the 1985 Ye Galleon Press edition. _____ The latter describes that edition as having been produced from a typescript in the Illinois State Historical Library. _____ Indeed, WorldCat (12/21) shows a unique, 38 page typescript copy at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, noting that it cannot be photocopied. _____ This edition is undated but is shown in the Catalog of Copyright Entries, Third Series: 1949 as having been granted copyright on August 9, 1949. _____ This may be a unique copy, printed for purposes of proofreading / editing for a production that was subsequently abandoned._____ It is riddled with many typos throughout, a few of which have been corrected in ink in the text or (in most cases) noted with proof marks in pencil in the margins. _____ It was intended to be a commercial project with a typeset price of 35 cents on the title page. _____ The 13 chapters (in 28 pages) of text are set in two columns. _____ Staple bound into orange cover stock with a line illustration credited to H.
