The collection encompasses embroidered festive temple decorations, funerary ornament and offerings in embroidered…silk and paper, funerary paper cuts, ceremonial dragon robes, paper maché and textile festive figurines, Chinese opera costumes and woodblock printed Chinese decorative papers. Four original examples of the decorative papers have been tipped into the catalogue. Final section includes 13 plates exploring the dramatic qualities of Chinese opera costume through the medium of modern high fashion photography. All plates are in brilliant colour, several of which are two pages (and one foldout three page) wide. Illustrations are preceded by an essay by Dutch art historian C.
